What is An Usability Testing Activity?

It is a type of user research that evaluates the user's experience when interacting with a website or app. It helps your designers and product teams assess how intuitive and easy-to-use products are. It is NOT a A/B testing, Surveys, or Focus group. I add to my usability testing Five Second Testing.

How Do You Conduct A Usability Testing?

There are types of usability testing:

• Qualitative or quantitative

• Moderated or unmoderated

• Remote or in-person

With saying that, in general, a usability-testing session, a researcher (called a “facilitator” or a “moderator”) asks a participant to perform tasks, usually using one or more specific user interfaces. While the participant completes each task, the researcher observes the participant’s behavior and listens for feedback.

What is An Expert Review Activity?

A design review is a usability-inspection method in which one expert reviewer examines a design to identify usability problems without involving users, but by using heuristics or a design evaluation method. As a subject expert, I use one of the two following methods: Jakob’s 10 Usability Heuristics or 42 Criteria of Design Evaluation.

• When you want an initial idea about the existing issues

• When you don’t have access to users
